We face a digital world where Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (VUCA) is the “new normal”. Traditional companies have relied on old management practices, designed for a time when information was limited. These companies expanded and as business became more complex their organizations got bigger, a rigidity and confirming cultures sets in.
“Custodians of Procedures” surface and take hold of the organization. The result-orientated, “let’s do it” mindset is replaced by one of compliance. Everyone is “doing their job” but many of your managers many have lost sight of the customer needs and therefore business performance suffers.
How do you get back your entrepreneurial roots, where energy levels are high, employee and company goals are aligned, with eyes (& minds) focused on the customer? That’s the mindset of an entrepreneur.
Many programs are available to address the culture of the organization or the “thinking” process of staff. Our approach is different for two simple reasons. We offer an in-house contextual specific program. This program is designed to open up the mindset to entrepreneurial behaviors and this is followed up with a full day that deals with issues in the organizations.
Participants learn how to think like entrepreneurs and then apply that thinking in their workplace. Entrepreneurship doesn’t require you to start a new business.

Over two days of intensive discussion and case studies based on real transactions led by the trainer, participants can expect to learn:

How to develop a Business Frame that will allow their company to survive in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) world
Identify which policies, procedures need to be amended or changed
Develop a comprehensive change management program with milestones and a feedback loop for refining the program
Identify and involve Champions and equipment them with the right communication strategy and tools
Cut waste and remove inappropriate processes
Adopt simple work practices that to improve productivity
Develop powerful and effective reporting tools.
The workshop is designed to discover issues and “acu-points” in the organization that prevent it from achieving its full potential. Participants can leave the 2-day workshop with specific changes they can implement in the organization relating to policies and procedures.
In addition, based on the experience of the trainer, participants will be exposed to new technologies in data collection and reporting.

About the Expert
Anwar Jumabhoy is co-author of 9 ENTREPRENEURisms: Management Practice for a VUCA World published by Black Card Books in February 2017. Anwar speaks, coaches and writes on how large companies can adopt entrepreneurial management. His articles have appeared in the Canadian Institute of Management, Malaysian Institute of Management, Edge Weekly as well as online publications of DigitalNewsAsia.com and Leaderonomics.com.
Anwar started his career as a Naval Architect at Sunderland Shipbuilders, United Kingdom and then moved to Singapore to work with Keppel-FELS Limited. Upon completing his MBA at IMD, Switzerland in 1988, he joined the family business in Penang, Malaysia. He continued to work with the family in Singapore until 1994, when he returned to Malaysia.
Until May 2015, Anwar was Director of Operations at Tune Hotel Group. He was responsible for the acquisition and development of the Tune hotel in Edinburgh and Melbourne. From April 2004, to July 2010, he was Senior Vice President of Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad, where he led and managed investments in more than 20 companies.
Anwar has been a co-founder of a number of technology companies and for 3 years (1994-1997) with his wife established and ran The Little Gym and the Fourth-R franchised business in Kuala Lumpur. At Mavcap, he led the listing of ISS Consulting Berhad on MESDAQ and prior to that managed the listing of Efficient E-Solutions Berhad (KLSE) and NTI International (SGX).
