The Approach

Once you have registered for the workshop, you will be sent an assessment on “Strategic HR and My Organisation”.

Two weeks before the workshop, we will get you thinking by sending you an input survey of strategic questions about HR and the business you are in.

During the 2-DAY Workshop, you will be introduced to key concepts followed by breakout sessions where you will apply the concepts to your organisation using the templates provided.

You will also be given a workbook for your “HR thoughts” using the same templates in the breakout sessions.

There will be group reviews for participants to challenge each other’s thinking.

Meet the Trainer

Lu Cheng Yang is an HR consultant with 28 years of experience. At Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE)---one of the world’s best-performing school systems, he conceptualised recruitment schemes, built organizational capacity and re-organised structures and processes for achieving sustained results.

When Cheng Yang was the Controller of Immigration (COI) from 1995 to 2001, he focused on Strategic HR as the department built IT systems and new checkpoints such as Woodlands and Tuas. The HR and training system of immigration officers were transformed and laid the foundation for Immigration and Customs Authority to win the Singapore Quality Award.

In the Singapore Army, Cheng Yang was the Head of Personnel Development Branch that introduced the women combat trainer scheme, amongst other HR initiatives.

In 2012, Cheng Yang did research on the HR of the Chinese Communists Party as a NTU Lien Ying Chow Legacy Fellow and published a book on “Adaptive Leadership---Selection, Grooming and Renewal of the CPC[1] in the 21st century” in August 2013 (see http://news.asiaone.com/news/asia/writing-about-red-china-rosy-hue).

Cheng Yang graduated with an engineering science and economics degree from Oxford University in 1984 and attended the Stanford University Sloan Masters Program in 1994.
